The designs

Each design begins with an emotional response - to a place, a painting, a climate, nature, a decorative object or, occasionally, a piece of music. I strive to translate that feeling into pattern, capturing not simply what inspired me, but how it made me feel.

Natural and historic forms are not recreated as they are, but reimagined - exaggerated, stylised and transformed for ornamental delight.

Colour is equally expressive: sometimes saturated and joyful, elsewhere soft, shadowy and nuanced, always led by the atmosphere of the design rather than a prescribed palette.

I am instinctively drawn to movement and exuberant scale, balanced by intricate detail and quieter layers. Foreground and background are interwoven; elements overlap, emerge and recede. I want the eye to travel through a pattern, not simply across it, discovering painterly textures and tiny details along the way.

The result is decorative depth: designs intended to captivate at first sight, yet reveal themselves slowly over time.
