Conceived on a summer evening in Provence, after a visit to the asylum where Van Gogh painted his cherry blossom, ‘Perfumes of the Night’ captures sweetly intoxicating, balmy summer nights. Luscious peonies and delicate, Van Gogh styled, cherry blossoms float across vibrant painterly backgrounds. Each colourway tells its own story and has been inspired by the colours of places we have loved; Marrakesh, India and the South of France, as well as the sun-drenched paintings of Matisse, Hockney, Cézanne, Bonnard and Dufy. Unexpected, intense brushstrokes of teal, orange and neon pink celebrate hedonistic colour, and add greater richness and depth.
