Whether conceived in the heat of the Provençal sun, or within the verdant forests of the Dartmoor National Park, our designs are inspired by the ephemeral beauty of nature that we find around us, our joy of uplifting colour and the feelings that both these evoke. These elements are fused with our knowledge of historical European pattern design and painting from the 18th century to the present day. Our creations reflect our desire to bring the joy that these elements inspire in us, into your homes and daily life.
Since our launch, we have created two dramatically different collections - Ephémère and Forest Floor.
Our latest collection, 'Forest Floor', reflects a shift in direction following our move to the heart of Devon, fed by the moods of the region's timeless forests. Walking to discover locations for chilly wild-swims, lead us through the ancient and evocative woodlands of the Dartmoor National Park. We are constantly drawn to the forest floor and banks, observing the wildflowers and foliage given life by the plentiful Devon rain. Within the dramatic designs, stylised and moody twisted fronds of ferns and ivy leaves are enlivened by ornamental woodland flowers. Formally handled 18th century styled roses are included simply for the ornamental delight they bring. In keeping with our previous work, hand-painted elements are at the fore, but this time these are juxtaposed with key graphic-elements to create decorative depth. 'Forest Floor' is available on exquisite stationery and gift wrap, with tote bags launching in May 2025.
Our first collection 'Ephémère' also celebrates the ephemeral beauty of nature in a decorative style. Its nine highly ornate designs feature a contemporary take on traditional motifs; decorative butterflies, loosely painted clouds and flowers play amongst richly layered abstract and expressive backgrounds. These are paired with six dramatic heavily layered and textured semi-plains, ‘The Abstracts’.
The designs were inspired by key artists of Colourist, Impressionist and Abstract genres, combined with a knowledge of 18th and 19th century European Decorative Arts. Colours have been heavily influenced by travels to the South of France, India and Morocco and the feelings that these places evoke.
