"I have three different designs of Salon Libertine's wallpaper at The Tower, and I love them all in completely different ways. In my lounge is a huge, carved oak Art Nouveau fireplace. The tiles that surround the grate and hearth are glazed in turquoise and deep blue. I decided to paint the walls of the room to match the fireplace tiles. I bought every sample pot of blue paint I could find in Brewers, but I just couldn’t match the rich purple undertone of the tile glaze. Victoria came over, took one look at the tiles and told me I needed ‘Prussian’ by Designer’s Guild. She was right, of course. Everyone who walks into my lounge for the first time comments on how perfect the colour match is. Although I was delighted with my walls, the space above the picture rail was bothering me. It looked ‘unfinished’ in white, but the ‘Prussian’ paint was too bright to take right to the top of the wall. I’d also recently acquired a couple of bright pink Chesterfield sofas - an impulse purchase that would need to be brought into the room’s colour scheme. Victoria mentioned that the flowers in her Salon Libertine wallpaper design ‘Nature as Art’ were a purple-toned blue and would complement the walls and tiles. Coincidentally, the touch of pink in ‘Nature as Art’ was exactly the same shade as my new sofas, so it really was the most perfect choice! Filling the gap between the picture rail and the ceiling with the beautiful Salon Libertine wallpaper instantly pulled the whole room together and created an ‘interior-designed’ look that I could then build on with other furniture and accessories. It’s my favourite room in the house."
